Find the Republic of Korea embassy or consulate that serves your state or U.S. territory before you apply for a Korean visa, schedule a consular appointment, or mail documents. Korean consular offices work by jurisdiction, so the right office is normally based on where you live, not which city is closest.
For most short trips, U.S. citizens do not need to apply for a South Korea visa before travel. A valid U.S. passport is required, and U.S. citizens can visit South Korea for tourism or short business stays of 90 days or less without a visa. The Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) requirement for U.S. passport holders is waived through December 31, 2026, and is scheduled to return on January 1, 2027. A visa is still required for work, study, teaching English, paid activity, and longer stays.
Travelers may also need to complete South Korea's electronic arrival card before entering the country. Travelers who want help with South Korea's electronic arrival form can use iVisa's South Korea e-Arrival Card service.

Before visiting or mailing anything, confirm the current address, appointment rules, office hours, fees, and document requirements on the official consulate website. In some cities, the embassy, consular section, visa office, and cultural office are not in the same building.
