There are only a couple of College Station passport offices where applications for a new passport (Form DS-11) can be submitted. Applications for other passport services - renewals, name changes, corrections, etc. - do not require you to appear before an agent. Those who need to get their travel document more urgently can arrange a visit to the Houston Passport Agency. If an appointment is not available before your departure date or you do not have time to personally visit the agency, you can use the services of a registered expediter to get a passport in 24 to 48 hours.
