Important Due to Covid-19, processing times for passports may take up to 18 weeks for routine service and 12 weeks for expedited processing.

Montgomery Passport Office List

The list of Montgomery passport offices below are just a few of the Alabama application acceptance facilities where American citizens can submit an application for a new USA passport. The list of requirements include form DS-11, a recent passport photo, proof of U.S. citizenship, identification document and a copy of the ID. Be aware that many passport offices require applicants to schedule appointments. Phone numbers are listed so that you can call. In the case of post office locations, you may schedule an appointment online. Passport applications are processed by routine service in 6 and 8 weeks unless you request expedited services. In this case, processing time can be reduced to 2 or 3 weeks. If you have an emergency and need to get a passport faster, you can schedule an appointment at the nearest processing center which is the New Orleans passport agency. If you are unable to travel to the agency, you can employ the services of a registered expediter such as Rush My Passport. Click here to get rush passport expediting in 24-48 hours.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Mailing delays are impacting passport processing. The Department of State's processing times begin when applications are received and not when you mail them. Standard service may take up to 18 weeks from the day the application is submitted to the day the passport arrives at your door. This timeframe includes up to 12 weeks of processing and up to 6 weeks for mailing.

Expedited service may take up to 12 weeks -- 6 weeks processing and an additional 6 weeks mailing on the front and back end. Delays may be significant so requesting 1-2-day mailing may greatly help.

Regional passport agencies are offering extremely limited in-person services if you need to travel internationally in the next 72 hours. Those with qualified life-or-death emergencies are prioritized.

Life-or-death emergencies are serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family (parent, legal guardian, child, spouse, sibling, and grandparent) that require you to travel outside the United States within 72 hours (3 business days).

If you need to travel due to a qualified life-or-death emergency, please call the National Passport Information Center for an appointment.
