Question: When renewing do I do anything different to change from the passport book to a passport card, other than the fee?

Question: I'm living outside the US. My visa agent asked me to renew my passport 1 YEAR EARLY prior to my visa renewal about 5 months from now? Will I need to renew the visa right away or until then?

Answer: The visa renewal will depend on the laws imposed by the country that issued it. As for the passport renewal, it is recommended that you begin renewal process at least 9 months before expiration. It is definitely okay to renew a year before expiration.
