Question: My son is 18 years old. He has a passport that was issued when he was 13 years old. Can he renew his passport online?
Answer: The online renewal system was temporarily suspended until further notice.
Also, your son's passport cannot be renewed online or even by mail. Since it was issued when he was under 16, he needs to apply for his first adult passport in person with the following documents:
1. Form DS-11 2. Original or certified copy of his U.S. birth certificate or citizenship document (if applicable) 3. Photocopy of government-issued ID (present the actual ID during application 4. One new passport photo 5. Payment for fees
He needs to apply in person at an acceptance facility.
Thank you so much for the links, they really did help us figure out exactly the kind of drama that we will be facing. We had our hearing, the mother did not show (as we expected) and my husband was awarded full custody. We notified the State Dept, the Embassy in Seoul, Immigration and the military base that she is employed by. She has about 2 weeks from today to bring the child to us and she also has an active warrant for her arrest. If she doesn't show (likely) then the agencies mentioned above are prepared to take action. She will be forcibly removed from the base and the ROK will not allow her to stay in country, she has no where else to go. Both of their passports are flagged and they will not be allowed to travel anywhere but to the states, where she will be arrested and my husband notified so that he can pick up his daughter from their point of entry. We are hopeful that she sees the seriousness of her situation and acts appropriately because if she doesn't, her life will be ruined forever. I do appreciate your help, I have learned a lot from reading the information you provided.
