How can I get a passport on Saturday?

by Dave
(Sacramento, CA)

Question: My passport expired. I got a chance to work and need to travel tomorrow. Is it possible to get a passport on Saturday?

Answer: While there are some application acceptance facilities that are open on Saturdays, it is not possible to renew passports at these locations nor do they offer same day service.

The Regional Passport Agencies that attend to applicants who need to obtain a passport within two weeks or less are only open on weekdays, except for federal holidays.

The hours of the San Francisco Agency are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. While you are supposed to make an appointment by calling the National Passport Information Center, some people were able to submit applications without one.

If you still need to get your passport on Monday, you can arrive at the agency when it opens. If you meet all the requirements, you should be able to get your passport the same day.
