Religious worker by: Anonymous Question: Due to my status as a missionary in Indonesia, I cannot get a China visa (because my current US passport shows my status in Indonesia as a pastor). Would it be possible to apply for a new passport even though my current one doesn't expire for about 5 years, so that I can submit a new passport to the Chinese embassy to get a tourist visa without all the hassle they give for religious workers? If I apply 5 years in advance for a passport per the above entries I should include a letter explaining my reasons, would the above reason be considered a valid reason? Answer: You can apply for a renewal at any time. The note is just to inform Passport Services that the application is not a mistake. Your current passport will be cancelled and can no longer be used.
