When I renew my passport, could I get an added page passport instead of a regular one?

Question: I travel often, so I always have to add pages to my passport. I will have to renew my passport soon. Could I get more pages on my new passport, so I don't have to send it back after a couple of years? If I can do that, how much does it cost?
Thank you.
Answer: The U.S. Department of State no longer issues the larger, 48-page passport either in the United States or abroad. All new passports are issued with the regular 24 pages.
The only solution is to request to add visa pages when your passport has only 2-4 blank pages remaining. Of course, you will now have to pay the new fee of $82 for this service which, until recently, was free to American citizens.
