Will I get a passport with my married name before our honeymoon?

by Kay

Question: I do not currently have a passport. I am getting married Sept. 26 and leaving on Dec 5 for our honeymoon.

I just want to make sure that my passport will match my id, cruise and airline itinerary. Is it best to get one now and change it after getting married or just wait until after the wedding? Will I have enough time to receive my new passport before the honeymoon?

Answer: There is enough time for you to apply for your passport after you get married. I calculated that there will be approximately 10 weeks between the wedding and the honeymoon. Regular passport processing takes 4-6 weeks.

Either way will work. Apply now and request name change later or apply immediately after the wedding.

If you want to apply now, you can read the complete instructions by clicking the link below.
