My passport will expire 20 days after a planned trip to Germany.

by Anthony

Question: I will be traveling to Germany on October 5th through October 9th. My passport will expire on October 30th. Will I be permitted to enter and exit Germany?

Answer: Germany is party to the Schengen Agreement. This agreement eliminates all internal border controls between the 26 countries that are part of it.

Once you enter and present your valid passport, you do not need to show your passport again to cross borders to any of the other countries that are part of the agreement.

Also, no visa is required for business or tourism for up to 90 days.

However, you must have a passport valid three months beyond the proposed stay. Since your passport will expire only 20 days after you return, then you need to renew it before you travel.
