Are extra pages needed for visas?

Question: My husband and I travel a great deal. We will be going to Sweden, Netherlands, and Kenya this summer. One passport expires 3 March 2015 and has 2 pages left; the other passport expires 10 December this year, and has only 1 page left. Should we order new visa pages?

Answer: The State Department recommends that passport holders start the renewal process 9 months before its expiration date. Since your and your husband's passports are have only a few months left, it is highly recommended that you renew your passports rather than add visa pages.
