Washed my husband's passport

Question: I washed my husband's passport, and it is all crinkled. It has not expired. What is the replacement process? Is it OK to use for a trip we have scheduled for July if the replacement is not received by that time?

Answer: Damaged passports cannot be used for travel nor can they be submitted in order to replace a passport. Your husband need to apply for a new passport using form DS-11. This requires that he appear before an authorized passport agent to take an oath and sign the form.

Routine processing takes 4-6 weeks. You can request expedited service to get the passport in 2-3 weeks. If you need to passport sooner, you have two options.
