Passport for new naturalized U.S. Citizen

by Maria

Question: How do I attach my documents to my passport application? I am a new U.S. citizen; do you need a notarized copy of my naturalization certificate and front and back copy of my Colorado driver's license? How do I get these to you?

Answer: You do not attach the document to the application. If you are applying for a first time passport, you need to appear at a passport application acceptance facility. You must sign the application in the presence of an authorized passport agent. You then place the application and supporting documents (evidence of citizenship, proof of identification, copy of id, photo and payment) in an envelope and mail it to the address on the application form.

Note, you must send either the original Certificate of Naturalization or a certified copy. Certified copies are obtained from the USCIS. Notarized copies are not acceptable.
