Question: I am traveling to Israel and Amsterdam on August 5-15th. I also have a connecting flight in Germany when I am flying from Israel to Amsterdam. My US passport will expire before my travel dates. If I submit a passport application immediately, will I have issues entering Israel and Amsterdam and Germany?
Answer: Yes, you will have an issue if your passport expires before your travel date. In fact, you will not be allowed to board your international flight without a valid passport.
In order to visit Israel, you must possess not only a valid passport but one that has at least six months of validity remaining. Note, not only is a valid passport required, you also have to present an onward or return ticket and proof of sufficient funds. A no-charge, three-month visa may be issued upon arrival and may be renewed.
The Netherlands require that your passport be valid for at least three months beyond the period of stay.
You should renew your passport as quickly as possible. If you submit your application immediately, there should be no need to expedite the process. Routine service takes 4-6 weeks. Click the link below for complete instructions.

If you prefer to get your passport more quickly, you can request expedited service. There is an additional fee for this service.
U.S. citizens are advised that all persons applying for entry to Israel are subject to security and police record checks by the Government of Israel, and may be denied entry or exit without explanation.
