My last name entered wrong on the passport.

Question: I am sending the passport for the correction. I have a Indian visa in the passport. Do you change the name in the Indian Visa also?

My last name is (removed by editor). In my passport it is entered as (removed by editor). In my Indian visa the last name is also entered as (removed by editor). I am sending my an application to correct the last name in the passport. You will issue a new Passport.

What will happen to the Visa. Who will correct the visa? I want to know this because it is not my mistake. It is wrongly entered and Indian embassy followed it.

Please let me know what will happen to my Indian visa and who will take responsibility to correct the visa?

Answer: Since the error in your passport is a printing error, there is no fee for the State Department to correct it.

If you look on page 2 of your passport, it begins with the following statement.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PASSPORT PERSONAL DATA. PLEASE REVIEW THIS PASSPORT CAREFULLY. TO REPORT ANY ERRORS IN YOUR PERSONAL DATA AND TO HAVE THEM CORRECTED, PLEASE CALL THE NATIONAL PASSPORT INFORMATION CENTER AT 1-877-487-2778.

Therefore, you will have to assume responsibility for the error in the visa since passport holders should verify the data in their passports and have errors corrected before applying for visas.
