How long can you stay in a foreign country on a passport?
by Ashley
I am a spouse of a military service member that is serving in Germany. I am currently in Germany staying with my husband. Just want to know if I have to fly back to the US, and return to Germany, due to any type of passport policies, or if I am allowed to be in Germany on just a passport for the duration of his tour. Under the NATO Status of Forces Agreement, members of the US Armed Forces and their dependents are exempt from German laws and regulations relating to aliens. When entering Germany, they must be in possession of a copy of their orders and a military identification card. Dependents should have a military identification card and a valid passport containing certification or a stamp by the military authorities indicating their dependent status. Private household staff is subject to the regular visa requirements and has to apply for a residence and work permit. Best regards, William |
