How do I use my MasterCard to pay for my passport?
Question: I received my passport application back in the mail today saying payment was not included. I had included a hand-written letter with my MasterCard number and my signature with the amount to charge against my card, but it was returned me.
I tried to call you on the toll-free number but it doesn't work from Canada. I could not see anywhere on the application where I could include this information, nor could I find this information on your web site. Answer:
If you are applying for a new passport, you can submit the application at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver. They accept credit cards. You first need to schedule an appointment.
Note, you also need to include a pre-paid, regional Xpresspost envelope for returning your new passport. New passports must be mailed and are not available for pick-up at the Consulate.U.S. Consulate General Vancouver Appointment System
If you are applying for a passport renewal, you can send an international money order. The fee must be in U.S. dollars and made payable to the U.S. Department of State. Credit cards are not an acceptable means of payment for passport renewals by mail.
