Question: I am traveling on July 29, 2010 to Nassau, Bahamas and need to get a passport. I have a completed passport application, my 2 passport photos, birth certificate/proof of US citizenship, a money order made out to the US Dept. of State, a copy of my itinerary, and a valid Pa drivers license for identification.
I tried using the automated appointment system and the next available appointment is on 7/30/2010 at 8:30AM, which is too late for me. What can I do?
Answer: I recommend you visit the Philadelphia regional agency without an appointment. I cannot guarantee that you will be able to submit your application if you do this but many have. I have never heard of an American citizen in need of an expedited passport in such a short period of time being turned away.
If you arrive at the regional agency when it opens tomorrow and are allowed in, then you should get your passport the same day. If you are not allowed to submit the application, then you would still have time to submit it through a professional expediting service.

Note, the birth certificate must be an original or a certified copy and you also need to submit a photocopy of your photo ID (driver's license). Fee recently increased so make sure the payment if for the correct amount.
If you prefer not to take the risk of visiting the Philadelphia agency without an appointment, then you can initiate the expediting process through a private expediter by clicking the link below.
