Can I visit the regional agency a day before my appointment to get an emergency passport?

Question: I need a 24 hour passport for a trip to Germany I paid for. I leave on Thursday 24th at 3pm. I was not able to get passport request out on Friday and it is a holiday Monday. I need to know if you take walk-in appointments on Tuesday 22,2011. The first available appointment was feb23rd @ 10:30 am.

I only had to prove support payoff to gain passport the first time I applied. I have proof it's paid off and already paid 170.00 the first time. I am hoping a 24 hour passport now is NOT a problem. I can pick it up on Thursday before I go to the airport before 3pm...please.

Answer: If you already have an appointment on the 23rd, then there is no need to visit the Philadelphia agency on Tuesday. The agency can issue a same day passport if you provide evidence that you have a scheduled flight on Thursday. Of course, they may ask you to return Thursday morning to pick up the passport if your flight is later in the day. Either way, you will get you passport in time for your trip.

Make sure you fully understand the requirements and have the appropriate application form and supporting documents when you arrive at the regional agency. Errors on the form, unacceptable documents or passport photos that are not according to the requirements can result in delays in the process.
