Can I travel internationally thru December 2010 if my passport expires in March 2011?
(Hockessin, DE, USA)
Question: I have several trips coming up through the end of the year, the last on December 13-17. None of my trips (Zurich, London, Australia) require a visa. I will not be traveling from December 20 through January 31 of next year, and plan to renew my passport during that time.
Can I compete all trips on my current passport which expires March 11 next year without any restrictions?Answer:
The answer to your question depends on the order in which you plan to visit the countries.
The United Kingdom
has no specific passport validity requirement in terms of entering and exiting. Australia also appears not to have any such requirement.
does require Americans to obtain a visa unless they obtain one through the ETA - Electronic Travel Authority. I assume you did this since you mentioned the fact that you do not need a visa to Australia.
is party to the Schengen Agreement
along with 25 other European countries. While no visa is required of American citizens to enter these countries, you must have a a passport valid three months beyond the proposed stay.
If your journey will end in any European country that is part of this agreement, then you will need to renew your passport before you depart.
