Question: We live in Italy and it's hard to find a photographer who will take 2x2 photos, so the photographer took 4x5 cm photos. Will they be excepted? Thank you.
Answer: The 4x5cm photos are not accepted by the U.S. citizen services of the United States embassy or consulate generals in Italy. Passport photos must be 2x2 inches. You can print out the photo requirements and take them with you to the photographer. Most photo processing centers are computerized and the size can be easily adjusted.
Another option is to take the photos yourself. Since problems with passport photos is one of the main reasons applications are delayed, be sure you read and fully understand how to take passport photos with a digital camera.
